State Office of Rural Health – Hawaii Department of Health

The Hawaii State Office of Rural Health was established in 1992 in the Office of Planning, Policy, and Program Development within the Hawaii Department of Health. Over the years, the State Office of Rural Health has worked closely with the statewide Hawaii Rural Health Association, the four county-based Rural Health Associations (Hawaii Island, Maui, Oahu and Kauai), and emerging community rural health initiatives and organizations.

In 2012, this office was placed into the Family Health Services Division at the Hawai’i State Department of Health.  See link below for a list of its functions and purposes.
